Standing Coat Racks

Surprisingly, standing coat racks are not usually seen in many homes these days. In fact, the majority of homes have built in coat closets. Standing coat racks are definitely one of these pieces.

Standing coat racks can be an antique addition to an elegant, antique home, and they can also be a modern, art-type piece that will give your entry way an added flair. With a standing coat rack, your built in coat closet may be used to store other items, such as boots, shoes, winter clothing, etc, while your new coat rack can store your coats in style.

You may not want to use your standing coat racks for coats at all. Some people choose to place these pieces in their entry way as a décor item. While coat racks obviously do not belong in places such as bathrooms, living rooms or kitchens, they can fit quite well in the right spot in a hallway or office. In certain situations, standing coat racks may even be purchased for bedrooms.

However, not every bedroom would be suitable for the standing coat rack. For example, a child’s bedroom would not be a good place for one of these coat racks. A spare bedroom, perhaps which is decorated with an antique theme, would be just the right place for a standing coat rack that has been built with antique style. Standing coat racks will give you the perfect solution to hang your hats, coats and other things.

Sofa Tables

Sofa tables are regarded as prime necessity and are common pieces of accent furniture for all homes. But, the sofa tables we know today come from a long history of development.

In many rooms at that time, sofas and sofa tables were paired with fireplaces. For some time after this, sofa tables made a move, to the wall. Then, thankfully for sofa tables, there was another shift. So just what are sofa tables?

They are loosely defined as any table near a sofa and were considered to a number of different tables. As we know, a sofa table is generally found at the back of the sofa these days. The sofa tables which originated during the late seventeen and early eighteen hundreds were very much intentional. The settee was the standard before that period, which would be paired with a sofa table.

It was in this time when the settee was replaced by the fully upholstered couch, or sofa. The best table, which epitomizes the early history of sofa tables, is the Pembroke table. The main characteristic of Pembroke table was a drop leaf section, which could be a single leaf or two. There are some other features too, for distinguishing Pembroke tables from other tables. The Pembroke tables usually have a drawer and often have two drawers.
